IRS Announces Administrative Transition Period for New Roth Catch Up Requirement

The IRS announced an administrative transition period that extends until 2026 the new requirement that any catch-up contributions made by higher‑income participants in 401(k) and similar retirement plans must be designated as after-tax Roth contributions. Private Equity Sees Decreased Commitment Activity in 2023 from Public Plans

State-Sponsored Retirement Plans Now Hold More Than $1B

State-facilitated retirement savings programs have accumulated more than $1 billion in assets, as of July 31, according to data collected by the Center for Retirement Initiatives at Georgetown University. As of June 20, nine of the 19 state programs—including auto-IRA programs in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Oregon and Virginia and programs with different structures in Massachusetts and Washington state—are open to all eligible employers and workers in those states.
