What makes us different from other Connecticut Hospitals
Updated On: Feb 15, 2017

What makes us different from all other hospitals in CT is not only do we have burn trained physicians, nurses, and therapist but we offer all of these services that no one else can:

  • Burn Outreach and Professional education (at no charge)
  • Burn Survivor and family support groups (at no charge)
  • SOAR (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery) (at no charge) this is where burn survivors are trained and come in and talk to current patients as a peer supporter and can discuss what it’s like living with a burn injury
  • School Reentry (at no charge) we help a child return to school after a burn injury. Staff with speak to teachers and students about burns, recovery, and how they can help their burn-injured classmate
  • Burn Camp – The Arthur C Luff Children’s Burn Camp (at no charge) we have staff that are councilors at the burn camp and work closely with the staff that run the camp
  • ABLS (Advanced Burn Life Support) ($120.00 per person) This is an eight-hour course for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists, and paramedics. This live, hands-on is designed to provide the "how-to" of emergency care of the burn patient through the first 24-hour critical time period. It is sponsored by the American Burn Association and we have many staff that are instructors. Dr. Savetamal and I are also national faculty for this program.

Thank You,

Jackie
